Director's Message

The students of NIT Sikkim are about to make their foray in their professional lives. The students have gone through the difficulties associated with a new institute. At the same time they have learned to work in adverse conditions and have successfully done it. They had to go through a disciplined academic exercise followed by strict evaluation and orientation in values of life. I am sure the companies will find potential knowledge workers in them. Moreover at NIT Sikkim the students are oriented toward Thinking Engineers, thinking for doing something innovative meaningfully. They are ready to do things much beyond mere service providing. Our Chairman of Board of Governors, an internationally acclaimed nuclear scientist, who chairs the Atomic Commission of India wants that our students uphold human values for becoming contributing technologists. I sincerely believe that they know, its important to get placed on passing out, but ,it is more important to get placed in career and further, it is much more important to be actually placed in life for cohesive family, strong nation and the sustainable world and have oriented themselves accordingly. I will urge that the companies look at them from holistic point of view and exploit their potential for sustainable development. My humble request is that this may not be considered merely as a word of wisdom but essential need for development of nation and sustainability of the human society. I wish them all success in their lives, compatible to peaceful sustainable world.
Vande Mataram, the Mother at home, the Mother Nation, the Mother Earth we live on and the Universe beyond our comprehension.
